CM Monthly Challenge: Close Up Portraiture

I’m so excited to be a part of the 2013 CM Monthly Blog Circle Challenge with a group of wonderful female photographer’s from all over the world! We’ll be given a ‘challenge’ at the beginning of each month to work on and we’ll then share our images at the beginning of the following month. January’s challenge was ‘Close Up Portraiture’ and since I adore close up portraits this one was right up my alley!

My subject of choice was my wonderful husband, January is the month of his birthday and yesterday was our fourth Wedding Anniversary so it had to be all about him! The lens I used for this shoot was the 135mm it’s my all time favourite and I wanted to find the perfect lighting and background to represent him and his warm, honest and grounded personality. He is also always wearing baseball caps and this khaki one is a favourite so I wanted that same natural earthy feel to the images and I also wanted to capture his real, natural facial expressions (not always easy with someone who doesn’t enjoy being photographed!) so we sat and chatted away about nothing in particular while I took a few shots here and there and I think these capture him perfectly, especially his smile in the first one *melt*.

I hope you enjoy my favourite images from this challenge, I’ve been looking forward to seeing what everyone else has come up with this month!
